The Cutting Edge, September 2018

September 1, 2018

Summer is winding down, but the heavy metal never stops. August brought us a bunch of music and lyric videos, a new Reign of Z single and we brought hard rock group MaxXouT into rotation. The biggest thing for us this September though, we will also be sponsoring this year's Descendant of Crom. Read more about all of this below!

You can tune in to The Cutting Edge every day from 9am-10, 2pm-3, and 7pm-8 for one hour of the sharpest new metal tracks in the Pittsburgh metal scene.

Descendents of Crom

We are sponsoring this year's Descendants of Crom festival this month, a three day gathering of rock, doom, sludge, and stoner metal. To celebrate the occasion, we will be dedicating our 4:20 block every day to playing bands on the festival as well as others that you just might like as well. So tune in every day at 4:20 AM or PM for a half hour of the dankest music in the Pittsburgh metal scene.

Descendants of Crom 2018 will be kicking off on Thursday, September 27th at Howlers in Bloomfield for a sort of pre-show show, with the main festival taking place Friday and Saturday, September 28th and 29th at Cattivo in Lawrenceville.

This year's lineup features Metal Edge artists such as Solarburn, Fist Fight in the Parking Lot, Horehound, Cloud, Molasses Barge and many others! For tickets, a full band list, and more information be sure to check out their website. http://www.descendantsofcrom.com/

Greywalker

Pittsburgh thrash group Greywalker released a monster of an album with Without Control, and they keep pushing out great videos to go along with it. This month we got a drum playthough video from Joey Solak for the track "Awakening."

Only Flesh

"Love Coma" is the newest music video from Pittsburgh premier freakshow act Only Flesh. The video features live footage of the band performing, including pyro and puncture wounds. Totally safe for work.

156/Silence

Teasing the release the their upcoming album Undercover Scumbag, Pittsburgh hardcore band 156/Silence released a music video for the title track of the album. They also just announced that they will be touring North America throughout October, so if you're reading this and not in Pittsburgh check to see if these guys are coming near you.

Transcendence

Pittsburgh hard rock group Transcdence released a lyroc video for their track "Never Back Down"

MaxXouT

Earlier this summer Pittsburgh based hard rock group MaxXouT  released The Big Push EP, and now we're bringing them into rotation with the two tracks "Steel-Toed Boots" and "Fumes" as a part of this month's Cutting Edge playlist. Check it out on Bandcamp!

Remission

Pittsburgh hardcore group Remission had their newest song and music video, Stagnant, debuted via Worldwide Underground. Expect us to have it added into rotation and as a part of The Cutting Edge very soon!

Halberd

Following a trail of memes, it's only fitting the group covers the music from the original video game Space Force, Star Craft. This video is a cover of the song "Death of the Overmind." You can also check out their original music under the name Klaymore, here on The Metal Edge!
