The Cutting Edge, March 2019

April 4, 2019

Finally, some spring weather! March went by quickly, I did a lot of traveling in last month, so this month's Cutting Edge newsletter is going to be a bit shorter than usual.

The Experience Hendrix tour was awesome, and absolutely how a tribute tour should be: sans-hologram. Would have liked to see more Mustaine and Zappa, but we got a surprise visit from Zakk Wylde

And since we're going to be on a bit of a proggy note today, I've got to say: the new Devin Townsend album is weird but I'm digging it so far.

Friendly remind that you can tune in to The Cutting Edge every day from 9am-10, 2pm-3, and 7pm-8 for one hour of the sharpest new metal tracks in the Pittsburgh metal scene. And things get dank around 4:20.

Listen live 24/7 here on our website, or on the FREE TuneIn radio app. We're also available on Alexa devices, just yell "Alexa, play The Metal Edge on TuneIn" and it's supposed to switch to the right station. I make no promises on the infallibility of AI devices.

The Crucible Project

This month's local showcase from The Crucible Project is an extra special one. The show features Reign of Z, Arcane Haven, Winter's Descent, and Oceans to Ash. So come on out Saturday, April 27rd for a night of local heavy metal as Reign of Z celebrates the release of their EP Mirrors and Memoirs. Doors are at 7, show starts at 8. And here's the part where I would normally state how much tickets were and where to buy them... but it's already sold out. So tickets were $10 in advance, and available directly from all the bands, and $12 at the door, buuuuut there are no more tickets that I am aware of. We will be there covering the house music and broadcasting live from the event, so you know this one is going to a blast.

Oceans to Ash

Some gear was stolen from guitarist Ben on March 9th after a show. It's some bullshit, for more details like the what, where, and who to contact with information click here. But the guys did something cool and got together some money to get him a badass new ax. Just wanted to give a shoutout to them, and everyone out there who lent a hand in trying to bring a little more happiness into the world.
